I agree with my State Senator, Scott Weiner, that the Feds shouldn’t get involved with the homeless problem in California. But that’s because our State and San Francisco politicians should and must clean up the mess THEY created.
As to arguments by some that stricter First Time Home Buyer Loans (FHA) makes the Homeless problem worse; how? Perhaps I’m missing something and if I am, please inform me. It’s primarily the strict city/county building codes and NIMBY politicking that keep developers from building more homes/condos which keep moderate-priced new housing from being built. And anybody getting an easy FHA loan is either buying an over-priced existing home in SF or LA and further driving up prices or buying a home out in a rural town where there isn’t a Homeless Problem.
