People have been asking me what I think about the Gates. I’m a bit cool on the final result, having seen his previous work in California (the Umbrellas) and finding them more impressive. Harris, despite his episode with Jean Claude and Christo, still appreciates having a large scale arts project in the city. My friend Melissa was far more ambivalent with her comment that they’ve succeeded in making Central Park look like a huge construction site. Art, as always, is subjective.
I hope y’all had a good Presidents Day weekend. We had a bit more snow over Sunday night, though it’s mostly all melted already. That groundhog must have been right after all. For my friends Joe and Michelle it was an even more eventful weekend, as she had a baby girl Sunday (both are doing fine).
